Fun Things to do with Kids in Redondo Beach

Weather

If warm-weather activities are what you’re looking for, you’ll want to visit Redondo Beach from June to the middle of October, when the weather is sunny and pleasant mostly in the early to mid 70’s. The perfect weather is ideal for strolling around this classic California area, full of Beach Town character.  Beware of what we call “June gloom,” a California saying for a weather that brings in morning and evening cloudy, overcast skies with very cool temperatures.  Typically happens during the late spring and early summer and will clear up during the day.

The Beach

Redondo County Beach is a 1.5 mile long sandy beach that makes up the waterfront of Redondo Beach, CA.  Just South of Hermosa Beach, Redondo’s sandy “Beach” starts at the Redondo Beach pier where you’ll find tons of parking.  If you keep traveling South, you will have to find street parking, typically metered and hard to find during peak time.  Also, the further South you go, the further you will need to go to get to the sand.

Enjoy a scenic stroll along The Pier with panoramic ocean views, water activities including harbor cruises, seasonal whale watching, kayaks, pedal boats and S.U.P. rentals or find a unique gift or souvenir for someone special.

Redondo Beach Pier offers free fishing in designated areas along the pier. Fishing pole rentals and bait are available at Redondo Coffee & Bait Shop on the pier and Redondo Beach Sportfishing & Whale Watching on the International Boardwalk. The Redondo Beach Pier and International Boardwalk are located adjacent to Redondo Beach Marina which offers a variety of water activities including kayak, pedal boat, and stand-up paddle board (SUP) rentals, sportfishing, and seasonal whale watching excursions, or experience a trip aboard the Looking Glass Boat, a semi-submersible yellow submarine featuring large glass outer windows, on the lower deck, for underwater viewing of the local sea life.
