Redondo Beach Weather
If warm-weather activities are what you’re looking for, you’ll want to visit Redondo Beach from June to the middle of October, when the weather is sunny and pleasant mostly in the early to mid 70’s. The perfect weather is ideal for strolling around this classic California area, full of Beach Town character. Beware of what we call “June gloom,” a California saying for a weather that brings in morning and evening cloudy, overcast skies with very cool temperatures. Typically happens during the late spring and early summer and will clear up during the day.
Redondo County Beach is a 1.5 mile long sandy beach that makes up the waterfront of Redondo Beach, CA. Just South of Hermosa Beach, Redondo’s sandy “Beach” starts at the Redondo Beach pier where you’ll find tons of parking. If you keep traveling South, you will have to find street parking, typically metered and hard to find during peak time. Also, the further South you go, the further you will need to go to get to the sand.
The Redondo Beach Pier is a South Bay landmark offering oceanfront dining, shopping and entertainment. Enjoy a scenic stroll along The Pier with panoramic ocean views, water activities including harbor cruises, seasonal whale watching, kayaks, pedal boats and S.U.P. rentals or find a unique gift or souvenir for someone special.
Redondo Beach Pier offers free fishing in designated areas along the pier. Fishing pole rentals and bait are available at Redondo Coffee & Bait Shop on the pier and Redondo Beach Sportfishing & Whale Watching on the International Boardwalk. The Redondo Beach Pier and International Boardwalk are located adjacent to the Redondo Beach Marina which offers a variety of water activities including kayak, pedal boat, and stand-up paddle board (SUP) rentals, sportfishing, and seasonal whale watching excursions, or experience a trip aboard the Looking Glass Boat, a semi-submersible yellow submarine featuring large glass outer windows, on the lower deck, for underwater viewing of the local sea life. You’ll also find some of the best Redondo Beach restaurants on the pier like the well-known Redondo Beach Quality Seafood
Veterans Park is a 6.3 acre park located at the corner of South Catalina Avenue and Torrance Boulevard. Located on the site is the Veterans Park Community Center and the Veterans Park Senior Center. The park features grass, trees, play equipment, and a front row view of the beautiful beach!
Situated on the southwest corner of Harbor Drive and Portofino Way in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor, the Lagoon operates from 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. daily throughout the summer months.
The large saltwater lagoon offers trained lifeguard supervision. Besides swimming, the Lagoon offers a large sand area for sunbathing, children’s play equipment, snack bar facilities provided by Ruby’s Restaurant , and volleyball courts. There is also a grassed area and luau shelter for day and evening events.
Hopkins Wilderness Park was developed in 1977 as a center for camping, nature study and conservation. The 11-acre site includes; four ecological habitats: forest, meadows, streams, and a pond; amphitheater (150 capacity); three overnight campgrounds: Gumwood Camp, Pine Camp, and Sycamore Camp (40 person capacity each); Elm Camp picnic site (40 person capacity); and public restrooms and support facilities. No entrance fee is required for individuals or families who wish to visit the park.
Located in the South Bay Galleria Mall, they have the largest dinosaur exhibit on the west coast featuring a vast array of static and robotic dinosaurs with scientific information about them! Over 100 robotic and static dinosaurs are now located within the exhibits for everyone’s enjoyment.
In addition to over 100 Dinosaur Museum, the brand new Second Level has activities that include a dinosaur-themed 18-hole mini-golf course, a dinosaur egg carousel, dinosaur train, and two additional robotic T-Rex rides. These are add-on activities and require the purchase of tickets to participate.
Bike Path at the Beach
Soak in the gorgeous California rays with a bike ride on the Bike Path along the strand. The path is designated for bike riders only, making it super easy and breezy for a casual ride on a smoothly paved path. This scenic bike path has sparkling views of the ocean that you’ll be glad you didn’t miss. Lots of local places to rent bicycles, even eclectic bike shops!
