I am a Registered Nurse; I graduated from Mount St. Mary’s Accelerated Bachelors of Science in Nursing program in 2012. After graduation I first worked in the Neurological and Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU). I gained skills and experience in the most critical of situations, such as performing CPR. My father had previously been diagnosed with cancer and I felt passionate about spending some time working in oncology as a nurse. After working the in ICU, I began working on early and late phase clinical trials in the area of oncology. To advance my knowledge in this area I became an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN). Being a part of cutting-edge oncology treatments I witnessed some patients with Stage IV cancer receive trial treatments and go into complete remission! After giving birth to my first son I decided that I wanted to take my nursing career in a different direction. I was hired at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and began working on the Mother/Baby (Post-partum) Unit. Working at Cedars-Sinai provided me with hands-on experience and great knowledge about newborn assessment, newborn care, breastfeeding/lactation and post-partum care for mothers who have delivered both vaginally and by cesarean section. After having my second baby and experiencing PPD I decided that I wanted to take my life in a different path that would allow me to spend more time with my own children but still work with mothers and newborn babies. I started a new journey with South Bay Baby Care to share my knowledge and expertise with expectant and new parents in the areas of newborn care, breastfeeding & lactation, sleep routines, post-partum care, and CPR + first aid. I provide education and care based services privately in the home.
