South Bay Halloween Guide – Social Distancing 2020 Edition
Halloween 2020 will probably be very different this year. But it’s still such a fun holiday that kids look forward to every year, so we’ve created a round-up of activities that are happening in the South Bay, Los Angeles and even a few worth a drive in Southern California!
Check back often as we will continue to update. And please note, during this time, due to COVID-19, all events below are subject to change. Please check the venues website and reach out to verify information is accurate and up-to-date.
The LA County of Department of Public Health has issued official Guidelines for 2020 Halloween in Los Angeles County, read more here.
Halloween Activities: Not Permitted (gatherings and events are not currently allowed under the Health Officer Order)
- Halloween gatherings, events or parties with non-household members are not permitted even if they are conducted outdoors.
- Carnivals, festivals, live entertainment, and haunted house attractions are not allowed.
- Door to door trick or treating is not recommended because it can be very difficult to maintain proper social distancing on porches and at front doors, ensure that everyone answering or coming to the door is appropriately masked to prevent disease spread, and because sharing food is risky.
- “Trunk or treating” where children go from car to car instead of door to door to receive treats is also not recommended, particularly when part of Halloween events, since it is difficult to avoid crowding and sharing food.
Local Halloween Activities:
Trunk or Treat & Hearse Cruise-in – Oct 25
Irvine Park’s Railroad, Pumpkin Patch, Sept 19 – Oct 31
Irvine Park Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch in Orange County is fun for the entire family. Come out and enjoy the many activities for kids of all ages. The Pumpkin Patch is located just behind the train station and admission is FREE. Please note that a gate entrance fee will be charged by the County of Orange for each vehicle that enters Irvine Regional Park.
At this time, due to COVID-19, we are uncertain if the 2020 Pumpkin Patch will take place as scheduled. The event, and dates of the event are scheduled to change at the sole discretion of Irvine Park Railroad. Please check back for updates in the weeks leading up to October 3, 2020.
