Elena’s Birthday Wish is to Help the Homeless

Elena - Shoes for the homeless
Elena’s Birthday Wish is to help get shoes for the homeless.  This young South Bay resident is turning 7 soon and when asked what she wants for her birthday, she says shoes!  But not for her, she wants shoes for those in need.  We are honored to have interviewed Elena to learn more about what she is doing to make a big difference in our community and how you can support her!

Tell us about your cause:
My charity is called Change the World. I hope that one day I can make it an official non-profit corporation. The purpose will be to simply change the world and make it a better place for everyone. Right now I am collecting shoes for the homeless instead of asking for birthday gifts (I am turning 7).

What inspired you to launch this cause?
I was staring at my shoes for awhile when we were at home. Earlier we had driven by a homeless man at an Angels game that I wanted to help.

What is one of your proudest moments?
I don’t have one yet. If I can find 100 pairs of shoes, I will be proud, but there is still so much more to do. I have so many things I want to help with and do.

What can one expect when getting involved?
All the shoes will be donated to the homeless and will keep their feet warm and protected during the cold and rainy season.

How can the community support you?
We need shoes. Please donate or email my mom to help. We will keep collecting throughout the year. I am not giving up.

Where do the donations go?
All the shoes with go to Kingdom Causes and the Richstone Family Center. I may give out a few pairs to the family be the freeway.

Tell us a little about you:
I have lived in the South Bay my whole life. I love Harry Potter and the beach. I want to be a food blogger and an author when I grow up. I am turning 7 in a few weeks and love school.

What do you enjoy doing in the South Bay when you are not working on your cause?
I love to swim, hike, and spend time with my family.

In addition to shoes, you can also donate new children’s, women’s, and men’s clothing.   Donations are currently being accepted through November 30, 2017 at the following locations:
